This month the Aurifil Artisan challenge is all about appliqué. I decided the thing I like to Appliqué the most is my label. I thought I would create a bag that is inspired by my label.
I found a lovely lilac floral print for the inside and a chocolate brown for the outside and I created a quilt sandwich I trimmed the sandwich to 11.5 inches x 20 inches. I quilted straight lines with Aurifil black 28wt thread in a long stitch and 50wt on the bobbin. After it was quilted, I bound the sandwich in black Grunge fabric.
I folded the mini quilt in two fifths over two fitths leaving one with of the quilt for the top flap. I sewed along the sides of the two fifths to create a simple envelope.
I then used Aurifil floss colour all 6 strands doubled over to blanket stitch just along the binding all the way around the parameter. This is how it turned out. I'm happy with it but I would like to use an upholstery linen for this project. Stay tuned.
