WOOHOO! I was beyond thrilled to be asked to team up with the talented Ashley Botten for a super special project for Valentine's Day - creating 6 quilted hearts! Ashley is such an amazing artist with so many fantastic ideas, and I couldn't wait to get started.
The hearts were inspired by beautiful fabrics and Ashley's love of all things hearts and her sweet daughter who was born with a heart condition. I've been a fan of Ashley's work for a while now and was so excited to finally get to work with her!
And let me tell you, it was an incredible collaboration. And, I gotta give a shoutout to Aurifil threads because they are just the best! The challenge for this month was to use our favourite weight, and let me tell you, that was a tough one, but I used lots of different weights and they all worked so well!
The hearts were stitched with the oh-so-smooth Aurifil 40wt and then reinforced with even more 40wt. The turquoise heart was embroidered with Aurifil wool and it was just a dream to work with! And for extra boldness and texture, I used two strands of Aurifil 12wt for the border on each piece. I am over the moon with how everything turned out and I hope you love it too!
